After a very productive four-year term in Sydney, the IWG Secretariat has been successfully transferred to Helsinki, the site of the 6th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport, and is housed by the Finnish Sports Federation (FSF). (Español, Français & 日本)

During the next four years leading up to the 2014 World Conference and beyond, IWG aims to continue to expand and strengthen its member network through already established communication channels such as the IWG website and Catalyst newsletter, and now also through social media channels.

Netball is the world’s most popular team sport for women and is played in more than seventy countries – from Fiji to Ireland, from Botswana to Malaysia. Ringette by contrast is a less-played sport, being competitively played in only a handful of countries: Canada, Finland, France, Sweden and the United States. Regardless of the respective following, women from each sport seem equally devoted to their game.

IWG Co-Chair Raija Mattila and member of the IWG Secretariat Terhi Heinilä were pleased to take part in the 2010 Lausanne International Sport Management Conference, the theme of which was bridging research and practice. This year’s conference included a session specifically devoted to women and sports management, thanks in part to the Lausanne Network for Women in International Sport (LNWIS).

The Sydney Scoreboard is the legacy of the 5th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport and will operate as a powerful online tool through which the number of women in leadership roles within national sport organizations can be tracked both nationally and internationally.

The University of Chichester (UK) is delighted to announce that it has established an International Women and Sport Archive. This archive contains materials donated by key personnel who have been active in the major meetings of the International Women and Sport movement.
